Mention the name
True Master in rap circles and you will undoubtedly be flooded with comments praising the production work of the man behind such Wu-Tang classics like
Ol' Dirty Bastard's "
Brooklyn Zoo",
Ghostface Killah's "
Fish", "
Heaterz" & "
The M.G.M." from Wu-Tang Forever and countless other classics. Often overlooked is the fact that True Master's foundation began as an MC. While he has technically only released one solo single (1995's "
Who's the Truest?"), he has demonstrated his lyrical prowess over the years rhyming alongside hip-hop legends like Guru, KRS-One and the Wu-Tang Clan, more than holding his own in the process. To commemorate True Master's contributions to the rap game as an MC, DYP tha Goldynchild has compiled this collection of songs that all feature True Master on vocals. Some tracks have been edited or recut by DYP in order to make the project flow in a cohesive manner. While it may be a while before we hear a true solo effort from the currently incarcerated True Master, this presentation serves as both a look back at True's lyrical career as well as a glimpse of what a solo album from True Master might sound like.
Because of his legal situation, we were not able to get an official endorsement from True Master for this project. It is only intended for promotional purposes and to pay homage. DYP has put together full artwork for this release, but because of rampant bootlegging in the past will only release it to True Master and his camp. Please do not purchase any bootleg copies on the internet of this or any of our projects!
